Morocco
I flew to Morocco with MyTravel airways which was very pleasent. When we arrived in to Morocco, it was about 30 degrees which is about the average temperature in the winter. I stayed at the Royal Atlas Hotel and Spa, which was magnificent, it is a new hotel and all the ammenities inside the hotel are great. Just down the road from the hotel there is a little supermarket if you need to pick up anything, there is a great little pub across the road which is called the English Pub, and they do cheap beer and food.
Agadir does have some building work going on after the earthquake in the 50's, it destroyed some of the homes and hotels in Morocco so they are rebuilding new hotels.
Whilst in Morocco, we did an overnight trip to Marrakech, which is very different to Agadir. It is a lot more crowded, but good fun walking round all the markets. On the way back to to Agadir we stopped at a seaside town called Essouira, which is really lovely and highly recommended, a few movies have been filmed here including Othello. If you get the chance it is definitely worth a visit.
I would recommend agadir to friends and would probably go back, but there is a lot of other places to see before I do go back.
TELL IT HOW IT IS!!!
During my recent visit to Morocco I enountered various resorts that North Africa has to offer, including: Agadir, Marrakech and Essaouira. Agadir is best for families, couples and groups of friends in search of a sunny beach destination with an exotic twist. Here you'll find a beachfront promenade port and town all filled with lively international cafe bars and restaurants. In Agadir you'll discover the massive 'souk al-had market' and the reproduction of the old town 'coco polizzi's medina d'agadir', along with great golf courses and watersports. For those looking for a more upbeat experience, the place to visit is Marrakech!!! This city is very busy which some may find intimidating but well worth the visit. Here you can barter with the locals in the square and be inspired by the snake charmers.
Opposite to hectic Marrakech, there is a town doted along the coast known as Essaouira, most popular with the independent travellers. This town has plenty of shopping outlets to enjoy aswell as tapas bars and restaurants serving fine international cuisine.
On arrival at this sunny spot, you'll sense a hippy atmosphere and is famously where Jimi Hendrix used to hang out.
When travelling through each unique resort, you'll be greeted by stunning mountainous views and beautiful varied terrain.
Overall Morocco is a valuable experience and I would reconmend it to anyone.
I visited both Agadir and Marrakech recently and they couldn't of been more different. There is still quite a bit of bulding work going on around Agadir, but its a developing resort so you've got to expect it. It should'nt distract you though from the lovely scenery from the kasbah and the beaches that go on for miles. I did'nt expect to like Marrakech but i really enjoyed it, even more than Agadir! There's a lot more to see and do here. Try Chez Ali Fantasia a good night out with great food, the souks and the djemma el fna square i've never seen so many people in one place at a time! If you see men with funny hats on with cups around their neck don't worry their only selling water but don't buy any stick to bottled water or you will have "moroccan belly" as they call it! have a look at the temperatures before you go if you cant take the heat, in september it was around 90 degrees in agadir and well over 100 degress in marrakech. Food is great out there they do try and put lamb in everything but if trying local food isn't your thing there are still mc donalds and kfc's. I would definatley recommend a twin centre but be prepared for the 4hr transfer between Agadir and Marrakech, but it's worth it in the end!.
