The smiling coast
Our third trip to The Gambia. Again it was a really happy holiday made special by the care and friendliness of staff at the excellent hotel and locals alike. We were invitied to attend a childs naming ceremony....two British ladies among about 1000 Gambian ladies. We were made to feel extremely welcome. Smiling faces, especially children, everywhere. The bumsters are more in evidence again, but did not prove a problem. The beaches have been restored at Cape Point, and it's proximity to the town of Bakau make this a great place to get the real feel of the country whilst still enjoying the comfort of a good hotel.
relaxing holiday in the gambia
Thomas Cook are very good for the Gambia.....and Mansea beach is very friendly and always attend to requests if possible
Mansea Beach Hotel Gambia
Fantastic holiday, hotel was great although location could be better, but would still go back to the same place. Rooms and Hotel grounds are clean, but a little run down, however it is a 3rd world country and this is to be expected. When you start to look outside of the Tourist resort and see the poverty and the conditions the locals live in, it makes you grateful for the accomodation you have and what we have back at home. You may hear a lot of negative reports about the Bumpsters, to be honest they can be a little annoying at times, but a firm no thank you, will normally see them leave you alone, plus they always reconise your face so after a couple of days they start to leave you alone anyway. To be honest the Bumpster issue is always getting better as the Goverment and Tourist Police are continually clearing them away from the streets. Please dont let this put you of travelling, its a country with so much to offer and will give you a holiday experience not to be missed. The local wild life is fantastic, its not everyday you get to share your breakfast with Monkeys, then watch the wild Voltures flying down to eat at the Senigambia Hotel. You can also go and meet the famous local - Charlie the Crocodile who is so tame you can have your picture standing next to him or give him a cuddle (if you dare). Beaches are great, they started to get washed away by the sea, however they have been built back up, so no issues there.
Wonderful
Had a wonderful time at this resort. When you see all of the little children there with the biggest smiles in the world it makes you realise how lucky you are!!! We met a guy called Abdul-he had the whitest socks in the world!-he was a local tour guide and took us to non-tourist places-we saw so much more and for a lot less money. The hotel was the Senagambia hotel- the staff couldn’t do enough for you... This is definitely a resort that I will be returning to in the near future
