Pleasently Suprised

I went to Aiya Napa expecting your typical club 18-30 resort and thought it would be dirty and not safe. I had a pleasant shock by the beaches, and found the Nissi Beach the best on the island, with crystal clear sea and golden sands. The main night life is all contained within the 'square' so if you don't want to see it you don't have to. There are many facilities for families and couples that still want a fairly quiet holiday.

Holiday in Protaras Hotel Chrystalla Fig Tree Bay, Cyprus 2009

Hotel Chrystalla Fig Tree Bay Protaras Cyprus.
I defy anyone not to like this hotel, it’s a happy place to stay. All staff here are really great, they will do anything to help, they always greet you with a happy "hello, good morning/evening" DO CHAT WITH THEM and you will find they do go out of their way to help you. The hotel itself is good, the pool is 1.4 Metres deep all over and is just right to sun bath beside and to cool off in. Three fake roman columns in the pool pour out water at some times of the day this is quite refreshing to get under in the heat of the day. Sun beds are plentiful and comfortable.
The resort is a mixture of bars, cafes and shops. While we was in Protaras we saw a massive free firework display, don’t know what it was in aid of. Regular Cypriot singing and dancing on a stage set up in the main strip.
Beach is a blue flag with fine soft sand; it can get extremely crowded at weekends. Plenty of water sports, we went paragliding of the back of a speedboat, we defiantly recommend it. We are in our 50`s and found it amazing gliding along at 500 feet, it cost 68 Euros for about 15 Mins. Including a photo of you just as you take off the back of the boat. Go early morning, as it’s cooler and less busy.
The only bad point of the holiday was? Coming home!

Educational to Cyprus

I have just come back from Cyprus with Olympic Holidays as part of a family trip. It has opened my eyes to what a wonderful destination Cyprus is and what lovely people live there. I was really impressed with Paphos as it has something for everyone history, great restaurants and bars/clubs if you were looking for something more lively. A couple of hotels I would recommend would be The Elysium in Paphos and Le Meridian in Limassol both amazing wonderful decor and great food.

It was our first visit to Cyprus, and it will not be our last. From the start it was truly amazing. We stayed at the Tsokkos gardens in the Pernera area of Protaras, well situated just a short walk approximately a mile from Fig Tree bay. The hotel was fantastic, excellent accommodation, great pools, lovely food and service, nothing was ever too much trouble. The weather was amazing for the 14 glorious days we were there. The local people were so friendly, and we made lots of friends whilst there, mainly local people. We ate at our hotel morning and evening, but during the day we found a tiny little cafe just off the coastal track to Protaras, just literally a very small beach hut with a large grass area and tables, chairs and umbrellas to shelter us from the mid day sun, where we relaxed and was served excellent food from very very friendly waiters. After a few days they knew us, welcomed us and treated us like lords and ladies. We sat there for a couple hours midday and enjoyed good wine wonderfully cooked food and just watched the world go by, sooooo relaxing. The sea at Fig Tree bay was like warm bath water, and so good for snorkelling. We did lots of exploring the local area. The bus service was very good; just a little rattly! We went to Nicosia and fell in love with the city and have promised ourselves another visit soon. Troodos and the area is very beautiful and worth a visit, walking is a great way, stopping off at tavernas which just appear out of nowhere! Again the local people are so friendly and helpful. Our time there was too short and we loved every minute of it. We did so much during our time there that I could go on forever. All I can say is if you have never been there, bite the bullet and try it, you will not be disappointed I promise.

This was my second holiday to Cyprus and I'm always telling people what a wonderful place it is! We went on a Thomsons Gold holiday, which meant it was just for adults - nobody under the age of 16 - fantastic! We stayed in the Tasia Maris, which is located by Nissi Beach. The weather was glorious and we were very pleased with our accommodation. Our room was carpeted and spotlessly clean. The food was always hot and varied. The entertainment was brilliant and all geared at adults. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would certainly stay there again!
