    Superb week in Austria

They say company makes a good holiday, well it helps. The Alpenkrone Hotel in Filzmoose is normally a ski hotel but caters for an all year clientele. Yes, some of the furniture was tired but overall, the staff, the food, the bedrooms and the public rooms were perfectly adequate.
Some reviews had the Alpenkrone a degraded place but after questioning the Manager, the story was quite different. Youths who had smashed two chairs and a table were asked to pay for the damage. Their refusal, at first, was complied with and perhaps led to the tirade in another place.
Bedrooms and public rooms were clean and tidy. The restaurant was spotless and served good food; starter, soup, salad bar, main course and sweet at dinner with breakfast being a serve yourself. Packed lunch, made up by the guests was perfectly adequate, with no restrictions on quantity. Price and more detail later.
The Hotel, situated on a hill (well this is Austria) was a 15 minute walk from the village of Filzmoose. Takes a little longer going back! Breathtaking views from the Hotel and surrounding areas of The Bishop's Mitre, a mountain in the distance but very clearly visible, scores of trees and dots of houses in the village.
Excursions to Dachstein, Hofalm, Hohenwerfen Fortress, Eisiesenwelt Ice Caves, Leichtenstein Gorge and Salsburg just wonderful.
Pricing of there tours was amazing. If every tour was taken - difficult in one week - the cost was 137 euros. Given that on some of the tours, there was an entrance fee to some places, this must be a bargain! Tour buses varied by numbers travelling, but mini buses were as good as coaches. On one tour, the seats in the coach were bound in leather.
The only way to describe this resort is, a ski resort in Winter, with all the ameneties to hand o a Summer.
The Guide, Patsy, was a mine of information and one of the most approachable people ever met. Her knowledge of the area and her command of the local language was impeccable.
For holidaymakers who have travelled the world on cruses and land based holidays, Patsy has to be one of the best INGHAMS representatives.
Many have never heard of INGHAMS but this recommedation is true and sincere.
