    Hong Kong an amazing city

Well the statement "Brigh Lights, Big City" has never been so true.

Hong Kong has something for everyone, an ideal city break or shopping trip to be truely explored! If you want to get the most out of your stay then here are my own personal must see's....

Take the Park tram in the centre of Hong Hong Island to get a perfect birds eye view of the Hong Kong skyline. If your brave enough try the white knuckle cable car ride to Hong Kongs highest point from the Ocean Park theme park. This is famed for being more popular that the new Disneyland Hong Kong, but why not try both?

If you want to shop till you drop, then knock yourself out! From fashion to the most advanced electronics you can get the lot. As for me I settled with a new camera from the Fortress, as this is one of the few stores which will guarantee their items sold. If your after bargains galore the try Stanley Market, with original fake Gucci/Prada and D&G to satin wrapped chopsticks! Good gift for all you friends back home!!!

Here's a hint though, you must barter and offer a really silly low price to bag yourself a real bargain. This is a shop-a-holics paradise for sure!

If you want the nightlife then to go dancing follow the neon signs. There is a bar street area on Kong Kong Island, which has music bars and even an Irish bar too. A tipple of Baileys or Guinness is traditional!

As for eating out Hong Kong will not dissapoint, you can get Chinese food (but be warned it not like your Chicken Chow Mein at home) Cantonese or good old Maccy D's. So whatever your taste you have no need to worry.

And if this still isn't enough reason to visit then take the ferry accross to Kowloon and see the Symphony of Light! This is one of the best light displays in the world, see Hong Kong really come to light.

I loved my stay in Hong Kong and will definatley return for a longer stay. So as we all said "start spreading the news Hong Kong, Hong Kong" New York of the East!!

    Amazing Hong Kong

Just returned from 5 days in Hong Kong. My first visit to the Far East and it was a pretty impressive one. Stayed at The Harbour Plaza Hotel on Kowloon, which is an amazing hotel right next to the legendary Star Ferry. There is so much to see in Hong Kong. We managed "The Peak ". Do this as soon as you can because if you get a cloudy day, you will not get the spectacular views. We also visited Stanley Markets & Repulse bay, which are beach areas on Hong Kong Island. The Temple night market and Ladies market are fantastic and well worth a visit. They will haggle a bit but it is very good humoured...just stand your ground. The public transport system is very easy and efficient. We used taxis, trams, buses, ferries, MTR and had no problems at all. Very easy and cheap. You can get an Octopus card for use on public transport but we just always made sure we had change. People told us that Hong Kong was expensive but we did not find this. If you want to do Steak houses and Burger King then it is pricey but the local food is very cheap. I personally do not think it matters whether you stay on Kowloon or Hong Kong Island, they both have plenty to see, but we liked the Harbour Plaza due to its waterfront location and just far away from the hustle & bustle. The best time to visit Hong Kong is from October to Spring. I found the September weather too hot and humid, mid nineties and we had a typhoon on the last day. Brilliant place though especially combined with a beach holiday.

    A fantastic place to visit!!

Hong Kong is a fantastic island and my father always wanted to take me and my mum there for years as he had worked out there for so long when I was younger. When we arrived into the new Hong Kong International Airport (formely known as KAI TAK) it took my breath completely away it was the biggest airport I had seen and so very clean! Then we experienced the magical MTR underground network that took us up to Mongkok where our hotel was. It is the best and cleanest underground I have ever been on. We travelled around Hong Kong for several days with dad taking us up to the peak on the tram (which was a fantastic experience), we saw the lights on Hong Kong island at night we even went to repulse bay and dad got me swimming in the water before telling me that the great white sharks also swim in those waters too!!

This was a fantastic holiday and finding all the little side streets eating 'with the locals' as my dad likes to say was great and after a few years of contemplating going back again my dad has now signed a minimum contract of 5 years with his work so it will now become my 2nd home aswell. There are so many things to do in Hong Kong and it's a great stopover for a 2 night break too. They even have a Disneyland Resort their so it's also great for families.
I love it and i'm sure whoever goes will do to.

Hong Kong Island is the best area

Hong Kong is split into 5 areas. If you want to be where the shops and night life are, Hong Kong Island is the best area. The sky scrapers are best viewed from Victoria Peak. A cable car takes you from top to bottom and vice versa. Every night at 8pm the Symphony of lights occur. This is where all the skyscapers put on a light display, this is best viewed from Kowloon. The local food is an aquired taste, however Burger King and other fast food outlets are available. Overall a busy, vibrant city great for a few days stop over or shopping break.
