Austrotel

Austrotel Hotel

Thomson fly’s 'no-frills' service from Coventry to Salzburg did the job though the airport waiting facilities were like a bus station's in the rush hour.
An inexpensive 3 day tourist card bought on arrival from the Salzburg Airport newsagents proved a bargain. It covered the cost of the frequent trolley bendy-bus No. 2 service from outside the airport which stopped across the road from the hotel in the centre. So convenient and only 20 minutes. The bus even displayed the stop name electronically just before we reached there and then an automatic voice announced it too.

The 350 year old historic hotel was a superb choice and the English speaking staff were especially helpful. Free coffee and juice were available during the day so one could pop back at any time for refreshment. The tourist card covered the fortress/castle, funicular railway, zoo, a jet-boat river cruise, a great brewery tour (with free gifts) and other places of interest e.g. Mozart's Birth-place as well as the buses. We even got 3 nights for the price of two by booking about 3 months ahead.
This was an ideal three-day break in a beautiful setting.
